Dento-alveolar surgery Cluj

Surgical treatments restore the health of the oral cavity, not only through dental extractions (both simple and complex), but also through gingival plastic surgery or removal of cysts, apical granulomas, preparing the ground for prosthetic work or a dental implant.

In our Dentosan Med practice the following types of dento-alveolar surgery are performed painlessly and under safe sterile conditions:

  • dental extractions - removal of a diseased, irrecoverable tooth from the arch;
  • alveolar extractions - removal of a diseased tooth from the arch followed by smoothing of the affected bone and suturing of the post-extraction wound;
  • apical resections - removal of granulomatous or cystic periapical pathological process;
  • odontectomies - the removal of some buds of impacted, premolarised teeth - the sectioning and removal of a root in molars thus allowing prosthetic support in the remaining root.

What are the possible reasons for a tooth extraction?
  • a tooth that is severely decayed or has suffered trauma will need to be extracted to avoid complications;
  • preparation for orthodontic treatment with braces is another reason for tooth extraction. The goal of orthodontics is perfect alignment of the teeth, and crowding often does not allow this;
  • Untreated early infection, tooth decay causes serious damage to the dental pulp that can turn into infection. These infections can generally be treated with root canal therapy. In some cases, however, the specialist will recommend extraction as it can no longer be saved;
  • Periodontal disease affects the supporting tissues of the teeth, leading to their mobility. Because of infections caused by periodontitis, your dentist may recommend tooth extraction.
What happens during a dental extraction?

Before the procedure, your doctor will check your health. Local anaesthetic will be used to ensure your comfort during the procedure, so the procedure will be pain-free.

In the case of impacted wisdom teeth, which require surgery, small incisions are made in the gum tissue and bone surrounding the tooth. Special instruments are used to remove the bone and ligaments holding the molar in place. After extraction the area is sutured.
